Stabat Mater Profane
for Soloists & Orchestra
This secular Stabat Mater builds on the fruits of his previous works, but with a more distinctive and explosive signature to his musical poetics. While not forgetting the dramatic experiences of compositions like the "Sinfonia Abellana" or "Come un balenio," the text also possesses a powerful sense of originality, even a "mysterious uniqueness, courageously timeless" given by the theme it addresses. Music, poetry, prose, voices intertwine to amplify an ancient, yet also modern and contemporary, tragedy. That of the mother, of all mothers in the world, at the foot of the cross, rushing to receive her son crucified by the brutality of men, for whom he sacrificed himself.
